Chuck Rates The Runningbacks

LaDainian Tomlinson Ricky Williams Clinton Portis
LaDainian Tomlison, Washington Ricky Williams, Brunswick Clinton Portis, Fremont

1.  Washington Rainiers – L. Tomlinson/S. Alexander/K. Barlow/L. Toefield/W. McGahee – OK the McGahee pick had us all rolling, but the top 2 just are over the top. Barlow will be the starter in S.F. so this will get better.
2.  Brunswick Lions – R. Williams/P. Holmes/S. Mack/N. Davenport – If we knew that Holmes was full strength, and the damn contract squabble was not on the table, this would be #1.
3.  Fremont Raiders – C. Portis/M. Faulk/A. Zereoue/T. Jones – The official “Faulk Injury Watch” has started in STL, as he was held out of the first pre-season game as a precaution. Portis is just plain stupid – stupid good on the field/stupid bad off. How are you gonna ask for more money after only 1 season? Get a grip, honor the contract, and make 'em pay later. Z is the tough study, as he is hurt but could take the main bus driver job in Pitt.
4.  Tempe Hippos – A.Green/D. McAllister/G. Hearst/L. Jordan/L. Betts – After the big 3, there is a bit of a drop off, but the Hippos are the strongest. Deuce is gonna get loose, but there is talk of Davenport taking carries from Green.
5.  Minnesota MoJo – S. Davis/C. Dillon/A. smith/D. Foster/M. Morris – I expect Davis to be a monster this year 1400 yards on the ground, and Carr has found someone to carry the torch after Biakabutuka (Brad cringes at just the name) dropped it on himself, and lit his chest hair on fire.
6.  Blue Ridge Falcons - W. Dunn/C. Garner/J. Bettis/T. Hambrick/L. Johnson/J. White – The Falcons went RB crazy in the draft but after the big 2, there are lots of questions. Will Hambrick eat his way into the Ron Dayne Buffet circuit? Will The Bus be able to keep young Zman from hanging around? Time will tell.
7.  Cleveland Rocks - W. Green/J. Lewis/C. Bukhalter/L. Gordon – I like Barry’s picks, as he based a lot on potential and given Faulk’s injury history and the Dumbass..I mean Duce's holdout, he could have 4 starters.
8.  Danville Doppelgangers – T. Henry/E. James/D. Staley/M. Alstott/M. Pittman – Henry and James carry this team, the other 3 are big question marks. I think I saw Pittman working at the Safeway the other day………….
9.  Dakota Lumberjacks - T. Barber/J. Stewart/E.Smith/D. Chapman – Gone are the days of Faulk, and now the Jacks have to rebuild slightly with old veterans E.Smith, and Stewart. Barber is the the mainstay here. Chapman is the question mark, and is currently leading the Minny RB battle, only just.
10.  Orlando Jaguars – E. George/T. Candidate/O.Smith/M. Shipp – The Candidate pick really surprised me, and after his pittiful showing thus far in Skins camp, probrably will surprise Ted as well. George is not the dominate back he once was, although there have been good reports out of camp.
11.  Albuquerque Bandits – F. Taylor/M. Bennett/K.Faulk/T.J. Duckett/M. Williams/J. Fargas – By sheer volume the Banditos stay out of the cellar on this one. Currently the only healthy backs he has to start week 1 are K. Faulk and T.J. Duckett. Ouch. Taylor when healthy….key words here….When healthy is a top 5 back, problem is it’s like every 3rd year. Bennett is a loss, and probably won’t be back till November.
12.  Rocky Mountain Cougars – C. Martin/A. Thomas/A. Peterson- Umm Earth to Bill, you need more than 2 RB’s to win a division. Atrain is done-stick a fork in him, Peterson will take his job, and Cmart is up and down. With the 1st pick in the 2004 AFL draft the Cougars pick……Maurice Clarett.
